We have what should be a fascinating program coming up in September on the Japanese Internment Camps of World War Two. This will be presented by Bob Akaki. I have had the pleasure of meeting Bob a couple times when he has been up in Minnesota for the Minnesota Stamp EXPO. He lives in Nebraska and is graciously coming to give his presentation on the internment camps. Bob not only has a vast collection of the material to show us, but he has also written many articles on the subject. He has done a lot of research on the subject and has family history tied to the internment camps. This is not a presentation to miss. |

My cover this week is a registered cover sent from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Barcelona Spain. It was sent on November 10, 1910, and finally arrived in Barcelona December 2nd. It traveled through New York on the way to Spain. The rate was eighteen cents. The cover has three #335 stamps and a single #333 on the back. The Registry Exchange label is # FX-NY1(i)(i). The contents are a very long letter written in Spanish. I am not able to translate as the only Spanish I can utter with confidence is "Dame una cerveza por favor". |
