| My cover this week was cancelled on Christmas Day sometime in the late 1850's or early 1860's. It is Scott number 26. Christmas Day was not recognized as a national holiday until the 1870's, however some post offices did choose to close on Christmas Day. The old saying, "Come rain or snow, sleet or hail" obviously had exceptions. |

We started this as a monthly event, and it has continued to grow and expand. Just bring your stamps, covers, stories and any other philatelic items to sell trade and buy. There will be refreshments available, so come and participate. It's like a garage sale for stamp collectors. Come a little early to get the best spot and set up your stuff. |
