Toozeday Nooze

Toozeday Nooze
EDITION 598 - 12/09/2025

This Saturday will be a workday at the library.
During the winter months when the weather gets bad many of the clubs and even the library will close or change their meeting dates and times. Check with your club to find out how they handle these closures.
The library will be closed on December 24, 25,31 and January 1st. I have not heard about additional days off around the holidays.
I had an error in last week's schedule, and the wrong date was reported for the Minnesota Postal History Society. The correct date is this Tuesday, the 9th. It is their holiday party, and all members are encouraged to bring a treat to share. It may snow on Tuesday, and I have already heard from two members of that club that they have fair distance to travel to get to the meeting that they will not attend if it snows. Members are encouraged to bring show and tell items as well as any items they wish to sell. They will not have their regular auction.
There is confusion about this month's Maplewood Stamp Club meeting. Members are encouraged to bring treats to share, but this is NOT their holiday party. That will be in January, and food will be catered in. We will have more details in January.
I have had a couple members tell me that they believe that I have missed some holiday parties here in the Nooze, but they offered no details. If you are aware of something, please send me an email at pjflaherty58@gmail.com
The Scandinavian Collectors Club and the German Philatelic Society are having a joint holiday potluck meeting Saturday the 13th at 4:00 PM at the Episcopal Homes, 502 Lynhurst Ave. East, St. Paul. They will not be having their regular meetings in December.
My cover this week is from McCauleysville, Minnesota, Wilkin County. It is dated March 19, 1883. I have seen this spelled with and without the "s" in McCauleysville. The post office existed from March 14, 1873, until October 31, 1905. Since that time the mail has been handled by Kent. Wilkin County started as Toombs County on March 18, 1858. The County changed its name to Andy Johnson County in March of 1862 and finally to Wilkin County on March 6, 1868.
To sign up for the Toozeday Nooze go to our website at NORPS.org, there you will find a link for the Toozeday Nooze and on the event page where you can sign up to receive the Nooze every week and keep up on events and programs at the library as well as happenings with the local stamp clubs and shows. I have been told this does not work with some phones but should be accessible from your computer. You do not need to be a member of the library to receive this, but I encourage you to do so. We are run and organized 100% by volunteers and your donations keep the doors open and the lights on.
If you have anything that you want shared let me know at pjflaherty58@gmail.com
