Toozeday Nooze

Toozeday Nooze
EDITION 612 - 03/17/2026

The monthly bourse will be this Saturday.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
I hope to post the program at the library for this month soon. We are still looking for presenters.
I received an email asking if the library was closing on any day this week due to weather. I don't know. We need a way of reporting that. We don't have anyone making daily updates to our web page and I doubt anyone ever will. I think we have a Facebook page, but I have never visited it, and I assume that it gets updated even less than the web page. I will ask the board if they have any ideas. For now, I can tell you when there is poor weather it is unlikely for the library to be open.
Golden Valley is not having an internet auction this month. They will resume in April.
I sold most of my St. Patrick's Day covers a few years ago. I can't keep everything and I got one of those offers that I could not refuse. It's one of those areas that is very inexpensive to collect. A lot of my covers came from St. Patrick, MO. Since then, I have accumulated a small collection of them again. The one below is one I kept. It is simple and clean, and it was probably a dollar or less.
I know everyone claims to be Irish on March 17th. I make that claim all year long. My grandfather claimed to be born in Ireland. He did have many relatives there, but his family moved here prior to 1870, and my grandpa was born in 1897 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Like many Irish immigrants they had first settled in Boston prior to moving to Minnesota. His Dad and Uncle's were stone masons and that brought them to the St. Cloud area. They owned a large quarry at one point that is now parkland that my family donated to St. Cloud in the 1960's. Granite for the Minneapolis City Hall came from that quarry as well as other quarries in the area. Ironically, I found out that my wife had relatives that worked in the same quarry, but we believe in our genealogy search they would have missed each other by about 10 years. Enough about my claim to being Irish and my family history.
To sign up for the Toozeday Nooze go to our website at NORPS.org, there you will find a link for the Toozeday Nooze and on the event page where you can sign up to receive the Nooze every week and keep up on events and programs at the library as well as happenings with the local stamp clubs and shows. I have been told this does not work with some phones but should be accessible from your computer. You do not need to be a member of the library to receive this, but I encourage you to do so. We are run and organized 100% by volunteers and your donations keep the doors open and the lights on.

If you have anything that you want shared let me know at pjflaherty58@gmail.com
