Toozeday Nooze

Toozeday Nooze
EDITION 5088 - 03/19/2024

Please note that this is a corrected edition of this week's Toozday Nooze. The auction at the Maplewood Stamp Club meeting to benefit the library is this Thursday. I sent the previous one out earlier today without my standard proof reading to test some changes Tim has made. Please plan to attend.
The library will have a presentation on Fakes and Forgeries by Bruce Johnson this Saturday at 11:00 AM.
The Maplewood Stamp Club is having an auction this Thursday with proceeds going to our library. Everyone is welcome to come to this month's meeting, even if you are not a club member. You may donate stamp items to be auctioned and all are encouraged to bid. The proceeds will go to the NORPS Philatelic Library. For those that have not attended a Maplewood meeting, it is a great opportunity to check out the club. They have an auction every month along with fascinating speakers and presentations. I believe it is the best attended local club and draws 30 to 50 people to each meeting. They normally meet on the fourth Thursday of each month. This month they are actually meeting on the 21st which is the third Thursday as the church has an event planned on the fourth Thursday.
The second monthly meeting for the Twin City Philatelic Society will be on the 28th this month in order to allow the members to attend the auction benefitting the library at the Maplewood Stamp Club meeting on the 21st.
There has been talk about having more workshops at the library in addition to the fascinating presentations we have been enjoying. These would not have to be on Saturday's but could be on a weekday during the daytime. With the passing of Al, the Stamp Academy is not what it was. I have been covering Wednesday's along with Jerry since Al's passing. One option is to try a couple workshops on a couple Wednesday's. I think between Jerry and I we could come up with a few topics. If there is a positive response, we could either designate a day each month or the day could float based upon presenter's schedules. We would like everyone's input into this before we come up with a plan. Please let me know what you think of this. I am at pjflaherty58@gmail.com. So far, I have received one email reply to this idea. I have had several replies in person, and all have been in favor of this after the renovations are complete in the basement.
My cover this week was sent from New York to Italy by registered mail on September 21, 1910. It arrived in Italy on October 10th or 10/10/10. The stamp is a fifteen cent Washington #340, and the cover also has the registry exchange label #FX-NY1a(iv). These labels were used on foreign bound registered mail from 1883 to 1911. The label partially covers the stamp. Enclosed is a four-page letter written in Italian. I have no idea what it says.

If you have anything that you want shared let me know at pjflaherty58@gmail.com
