Toozeday Nooze

Toozeday Nooze
EDITION 629 - 07/14/2026

The Minnesota Stamp EXPO is this weekend, Friday through Sunday. This is the 83rd edition of the show. This is the largest stamp bourse in the Upper Midwest. It is an APS-certified World Series of Philately qualifying exhibit with 140 frames of exhibits. There will be 25 dealers from across the United States. There is no admission and free parking. There will be several programs that are also free to attend. Many of our local clubs have tables and meetings at the show. Be sure to pick up your schedule of events at the front desk.
The library will have its Annual Membership meeting at 11:00 AM on Saturday at EXPO. It will be followed by a presentation by Dr. Gene Young on the 250th anniversary of our nation's Declaration of Independence titled "About Two Dozen Pieces of American Philately That Celebrate What Makes America Uniquely America."
My cover this week is from a previous Minnesota Stamp EXPO. Each year at EXPO you have an opportunity to purchase limited edition thematic show covers commemorating the event. The theme this year is "Celebrating 250 Years of Liberty".
To sign up for the Toozeday Nooze go to our website at NORPS.org, there you will find a link for the Toozeday Nooze and on the event page where you can sign up to receive the Nooze every week and keep up on events and programs at the library as well as happenings with the local stamp clubs and shows. I have been told this does not work with some phones but should be accessible from your computer. You do not need to be a member of the library to receive this, but I encourage you to do so. We are run and organized 100% by volunteers and your donations keep the doors open and the lights on.

If you have anything that you want shared let me know at pjflaherty58@gmail.com
Upcoming Events:

Date and Time At EXPO- June 18, 2026 at 11:00AM
Event Upcoming Library Programs Here is Gene's description of the program. It will be themed around the 250 year celebration and will be an examination of a few dozen US stamps that commemorate what I consider to be some very important events/developments in American history that have stamps issued for them. I am basing the talk on a neat, short book we have in the library that highlights twenty British stamps that are important commemorations of events in British history. My talk will highlight about twenty pieces of Americana, for which we have stamps, that celebrate important American occurrences that are often overlooked but which I consider really important items in American technological/cultural/political history. Items like the Louisiana Purchase, the Harlem Renaissance and the invention of the telegraph. No Revolutionary War/Civil War, WW Two -- these events get all the attention, as do Washington and Lincoln. I am calling the talk "About Two Dozen Pieces of American Philately That Celebrate What Makes America Uniquely America."
