Toozeday Nooze

Toozeday Nooze
EDITION 630 - 07/21/2026

This weekend the library will host the monthly stamp bourse.
It was a hot weekend for EXPO and I found a couple people that wanted to share their items in the Nooze. I will be sure to include them in upcoming issues. EXPO is always a good time to reconnect with old friends from around the country and shop dealers stock that most of us only see once a year.
The Minnesota Postal History Society will be meeting at the newly remodeled Wentworth library in West St. Paul. We hope this new location will be easier for members to get to. The meeting will be on the 28th at 5:00 PM.
This week's cover has been provided by Jerry. He also provided the synopsis for the cover.
East Prairieville, 1857/1879, Rice County. MN. Helbock Rarity 7 (of 9).
East Prairieville was once a growing community, a place so promising that farmers from as far away as Vermont uprooted their families in favor of the tiny village in southeastern Minnesota. By the 1860s the community had a church, a post office, a school with dozens of students, a hotel, a blacksmith shop, a cemetery and several stores.
But for reasons that remain unclear, the Cannon City Township community crumbled almost as fast as it had grown. By the 1930s, virtually all that remained of East Prairieville were some ruins, a handful of houses, the cemetery and the school. The area simply became known as Prairieville.
[Prairieville 1871-1872, Helbock Rarity 5 (of 9).

To sign up for the Toozeday Nooze go to our website at NORPS.org, there you will find a link for the Toozeday Nooze and on the event page where you can sign up to receive the Nooze every week and keep up on events and programs at the library as well as happenings with the local stamp clubs and shows. I have been told this does not work with some phones but should be accessible from your computer. You do not need to be a member of the library to receive this, but I encourage you to do so. We are run and organized 100% by volunteers and your donations keep the doors open and the lights on.
If you have anything that you want shared let me know at pjflaherty58@gmail.com
