EDITION 638 - 09/15/2026
The library will have a busy weekend this Saturday and Sunday. The library will host the monthly bourse on Saturday where all collectors are encouraged to come buy, sell or swap your stamps with other collectors. This is a free event every month whether you are buying, selling or just showing up for coffee and good conversation. Sunday we will have our open house from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There will be hourly drawings and food. Plan to come and see all that the library offers. It is always free to attend. We are also happy to welcome new members. The library is much more than a collection of 1000's of books and catalogs covering many philatelic topics. We also have dozens red boxes of U.S. and Worldwide stamps for you to look through and fill holes in your collection for a small donation equaling a fraction of their catalog value. It's a great place to meet other collectors and visit with some of our experts to assist you in identifying your stamps and covers. One thing that most of our visitors miss is the stamp lab that has equipment for stamp identification and fly specking. The lab has everything from simple tools for perforation and watermark detection to more advanced equipment such as high-power microscopes.
The library has added an Exhibit case for philatelic history. Expect to see a good variety of topics covered with changes every 30 to 60 days. Contact Phil Seppamaki if you have an exhibit for display.

The Maplewood meeting date has changed to the 17th this month due to a schedule conflict at the church.
My cover this week is a registered cover sent from Buchanan, Michigan on May 18, 1873 to Petersborough, New York. The post office in Michigan has been in operation in Berrien County since 1848. The post office in Petersborough was in Madison County and it operated from 1807 to 1894. The stamps used were #'s 147 and 152. The letter enclosed was a condolence letter acknowledging the death of the recipient's father.

To sign up for the Toozeday Nooze go to our website at NORPS.org, there you will find a link for the Toozeday Nooze and on the event page where you can sign up to receive the Nooze every week and keep up on events and programs at the library as well as happenings with the local stamp clubs and shows. I have been told this does not work with some phones but should be accessible from your computer. You do not need to be a member of the library to receive this, but I encourage you to do so. We are run and organized 100% by volunteers and your donations keep the doors open and the lights on.
