Toozeday Nooze

Toozeday Nooze
EDITION 549 - 12/31/2024

The monthly board meeting will be on Saturday. The library is closed through the 3rd for the New Years Holiday.
The first monthly schedule is up for 2025. The Minnesota Postal History Society does not meet in January or February and the library that they have been meeting in is scheduled to be torn down this month. They will have to find a new location for meetings when they resume in March. We will post updates as we receive them.
The Maplewood Stamp Club cancelled their December meeting due to poor weather. They will have the auction that was planned in December this month along with their holiday party.
If your club has changes to their schedule during the winter months, please send a notification to pjflaherty58@gmail.com
A friend asked me if I had U.S. # C77 used on a postal card. As it is not a rare stamp, I assumed it would be relatively easy to find. It proved to be harder than I thought. Before you go look it up it is the red nine cent airmail stamp from the early 1970's described as the "Silhouette of a Delta Wing Plane". This whole thing reminds me of the advice given by a friend that often says, "Read the book, the information is there." Sure, enough if you read beyond the basic description, it states that the C77 was primarily for use on domestic post cards. Well, I searched, and I did not have a single example. The stamp alone is common and of minimal value. Scott's catalogue does not list a price for it on cover or postcard which usually means that there is no premium for it on cover, but there are exceptions to that. I then did an internet search for it and found a few and the prices varied quite a bit. One of them was $5.00. The other three were a lot more. I bought the $5.00 one and I'm still not certain if it was a good deal or if I am a sucker. (You know one is born every minute, and that sucker may be me.) I usually stick with the rule to only invest in areas that I at least have a basic knowledge in. Air mail stamps and covers are not a specialty of mine and I am certain that some of you with a lot more knowledge than what I have on the topic can add to this story. If you do, I will post an update.
If you have anything that you want shared let me know at pjflaherty58@gmail.com
